“She is a tree of life to those who grasp her, And whoever holds on to her is happy.”

Proverbs 3:18

There are a number of ways you can sustain Congregation Beth Israel.  You can micro-donate here from our page.  You can sponsor an Shabbat oneg.  You can work with our endowment committee and set up a planned giving strategy for you and your household, and leave a lasting legacy for Bangor’s Jewish community.

Trees of Life

Congregation Beth Israel’s Endowment Committee would like to remind our Congregation of a meaningful donation idea—Beth Israel’s Trees of Life.  As most of you already know, the two Trees of Life were moved from the sanctuary foyer in December and remounted just outside of our Epstein Room.  This new location provides a wonderful view of these two extraordinary aspects of our synagogue.

The price of an engraved leaf is $180.  At the base of each Tree are two sizes of stones.  The price of a smaller engraved stone is $1,000, and the larger engraved stone is $2,000.  Leaves and stones may be purchased in honor of or in memory of family and friends, for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, or any Jewish life cycle event.  Checks should be made payable to Congregation Beth Israel Endowment.  Your charitable donation is tax-deductible.

Please consider the Trees of Life as part of your generous support of Congregation Beth Israel.  If you have any questions, please contact our office.

Planned Giving

There is no stronger financial commitment to a community than providing for future generations of Jews.  Bequests generally go to our endowment, but special designated provisions may be set up for your estate in tandem with our congregation.

There are many ways to make a planned gift.  You may include Congregation Beth Israel in your will.  You may make it a beneficiary of your life insurance policy or your IRA.  You may even, as some families have done, create a charitable trust that names Congregation Beth Israel as its beneficiary.
