How can I get Involved?

There is an abundance of avenues for involvement with the Congregation Beth Israel community.  New members will be invited to meet with the rabbi, the president and other new members at Bagel Central.  We also host a “new member Shabbat” once a year, where we can embarrass you with our enthusiasm for your presence.  Our core mission is to motivate your participation in this community in accordance with your talent and interests.  We want to help you go deeper into your Jewishness along with us.  You can almost be assured we will try and rope you into committee participation!

How can I meet with the Rabbi or Director of Education? May I visit the synagogue?

We value our members, and we’re always here to answer questions that you may have.  Give us a call!  To schedule a meeting with the Rabbi or Director of Education, to request a tour of our building, or to discuss membership, please contact the office.

What is the financial membership commitment?

Congregation Beth Israel has a very healthy endowment, but to fulfill our mission to serve our members, educate our children, and be the hub of Jewish life in this part of Maine, we rely on the financial commitment of our members.
