Sisterhood Builds Community and Friendships

For almost the entire history of Congregation Beth Israel, its Sisterhood has worked tirelessly to sustain and promote the congregation.  Today, it’s a group of women dedicated to building friendships and sustaining Judaism in Bangor, Maine.

We are sisters

We care for each other, support each other, and are always there for one another.

We are philanthropists

We actively serve the interests of Congregation Beth Israel through fundraising and volunteerism.

We are leaders

The Sisterhood holds a voting membership on the synagogue Board of Directors, and leads from the front on educational programming and community service.  From social action to maintaining kashrut in our facility kitchen, the Sisterhood keeps the community moving.
